First Aid & Safety Training

Instructors

All of our instructors have their First Aid and CPR qualifications, as well as annual police checks.

Dana Van B

dana-van-berkelMy name is Dana Van B.  I have been the owner and administrator with Seconds Save Lives First Aid & Safety Training for just over 15 years. I have a Bachelor of Applied Science degree with the University of Guelph in Gerontology. I am also a Canadian Red Cross certified First Aid and CPR Instructor and have been for almost 15 years. I am the proud mother of 3 beautiful children, aged 15, 13 and 9 years old. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 17 years now. Our children teach us everyday about new ideas and challenges that we as parents need to know, when raising children in this ever changing world we live in. I have incorporated many of these ideas in our 3 wonderful courses and I am sure that your families have some of these same concerns when raising your own children.

Brandy Rafeek

brandyI have been a ‘Seconds Save Lives’ instructor since 2011. I am also a mom to 3 wonderful children ages 11, 16 and 17. Having children of my own, that are the ages of the children we teach, really makes me feel “in my zone” during the classes!  Before SSL, I was a sign language instructor for 7 years. Guiding a classroom full of eager to learn students, is what I love to do!  I am also a very active volunteer in my children’s school. I thoroughly enjoy working with children, and helping them learn these important safety skills, that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives!

Anna Macleod

anna2Becoming a babysitter is a huge responsibility and I take pride in equipping these young adults with the knowledge and confidence they need to take on this important job.  I bring all of the experience and core values that I have as a parent into the classroom.

My name is Alexandria, but everyone calls me Alex.  I grew up in Mississauga, but moved to Barrie this past January to work as an American Sign Language interpreter. I graduated from George Brown College in Toronto in 2012, and since then have been working in a variety of settings across Ontario.  When I am not working, I can be found walking along Barrie's waterfront, or at home curled up with a good book or movie."

"Our son took The Home Alone Course with First Aid last Friday in Barrie.  I just wanted to let you know that he feels so much more confident now.  He was a bit hesitant to start staying at home alone, but he is more open to trying it out after taking this course.  Thank you very much, I will have him take The Babysitters Course next year to help compliment this course.  Thanks again."
